Our timetable and routines
The welfare and education of the children in our care is our top priority, as is the positive experience received by the children. Together, the Wombatz team work hard to ensure the daily routines and activities create an environment that:
- Helps each child to feel that she/he is a valued member of Little Wombatz.
- Ensures the safety of each child.
- Helps children to gain from the social experience of being part of a group.
- Provides children with opportunities to learn and help them to value learning.
Little Wombatz organises each day so that children can take part in a variety of child-chosen and adult-led activities. These take account the children’s changing energy levels throughout the day.
The setting caters for children’s individual needs for rest and quiet activities during the day. Outdoor activities contribute to children’s health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them.
To ensure the needs of the children are met, we provide a flexible, adaptable routine which can change.
Typically our daily routine is as follows:
09.00 – “Free play” with Adult support and an Adult-led activity. The snack bar opens at 10.15, and we encourage children to help themselves to a snack when they are ready.
11.00 – “Key worker time”. The children spend time in their key worker groups playing a game or completing an activity together.
11.15 – “Outside time”. We take a variety of toys and activities outside for the children to play with, and make good use of the space around The Wombatz Pre-school.
12.00 – “Circle Time”. We split into groups, the 2 – 3 year olds in one room and the 3 – 4 year olds in the other for age appropriate activities. The 3 – 4 year olds follow the letters and sounds program.
12.15 – “Lunch” (Please provide your child with a healthy packed lunch). Once the children are finished they are encouraged to sit quietly with story books or small toys until everyone has finished eating.
13.00 – “Free play” with Adult support and an optional Adult-led activity. This may be outside if the weather is nice.
14.30 – “Tidy-up time”. The children are encouraged to help with tidying the toys away.
14.45 – “Story Time” and quiet play for the children on late collection.
15.00 – Latest collection time.
